WordPress Editor (Contractor)

With over 25 years of expertise, Plaudit specializes in website design, site management, and Internet marketing. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service and growing long-term business partnerships with our clients, resulting in years of mutual success.

This is a contract position for a Web Developer Assistant, requiring proficient experience in WordPress, especially in using the Gutenberg editor. The candidate must possess a keen eye for design and content presentation, enabling informed layout decisions during page construction.

Work hours will fluctuate weekly, tailored to project demands. Meetings at our St. Paul office during business hours are necessary for reviewing new projects and collaboration. Once acquainted and in the execution phase, you can work from any location and at any hour, provided deadlines are consistently met.

Responsibilities

Plaudit is currently seeking support on a few projects that require:

  • Page Creation - Efficient creation of web pages within WordPress sites, by transferring content from Word or Google Docs. Make informed decisions about formatting and layout within the developed theme/design.
  • Content Migration - Migration of content from existing websites to WordPress sites.

Future projects may also include the following activities:

  • Content & Data Collection - Develop Google Docs and Sheets for content and data collection based on client-approved site plans and designs, such as creating documents for specific site pages (e.g., “About Us”) and spreadsheets for tabular data (e.g., e-Commerce product information).
  • Images - Choose and place suitable images to complement the text, enhancing the content’s visual appeal and message.
  • Writing Small Pieces - Craft concise text pieces like page intros and excerpts to effectively introduce and summarize page content, especially when client-provided content lacks these elements.
  • Quality Assurance - Perform detailed reviews of websites against approved plans and designs. Ensure consistency and accuracy across different browsers and devices. Follow a standard checklist to verify various site elements (e.g., favicon, Google ID, sitemap.xml, WordPress caching plugin configuration).
  • Redirects - When a website replaces an existing one, map the URLs of pages from their previous location to their new one.
  • Additional Tasks - Will be asked to assist the team in building and supporting websites in additional ways.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role must exhibit:

  • Proficiency in using the WordPress backend for creating and editing pages, particularly emphasizing expertise with the Gutenberg editor.
  • A technical and analytical aptitude, capable of processing data in Google Sheets using advanced features such as filters, formulas, and pivot tables, and employing automation tools and techniques for efficient content migration.
  • The ability to adeptly decide on content layout using the provided design elements, such as Gutenberg blocks.
  • A keen eye for choosing images that fit and enhance web content's visual appeal.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in ensuring content accuracy and consistency.
  • An understanding of HTML and CSS is a plus, though not required.
  • Strong communication skills for effective teamwork with developers and other stakeholders.
  • The capacity to juggle multiple tasks, work autonomously, and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
  • A proactive stance on problem-solving and commitment to enhancing quality.
